On November 30, 1950, an 8.5 pound meteorite crashed through the roof of Elizabeth Hodges' house in Sylacauga, Alabama and hit her smack on the hip. That same week, in Kansas City, doctors discovered a sunflower seed sprouting in the lung of a two-year-old girl. Both of these unlikely events occurred within a few days of my birth. Clearly, there was some interesting shit happening, but — and this was admittedly rather irritating — it all seemed to be happening to other people. While the world spun its dense web of front-page news, I passed the time soiling my diapers.

What's happened since then? More interesting shit, some of which, if you're lucky, has happened to you.
